Yesterday it was decided that it would be a nice day to go for a day in the mountains. The idea was that we could drive north through Susanville to the nort entrance of Lassen National Park and drive back south on HW 89 through the park to Truckee, CA and back home stopping along the way to see the sites in the park and enjoy a lunch at one of the picnic grounds. When we checked into the park the Ranger informed us that HWY 89 was not yet open for the season due to snow at the summit and would be another week before it was possible to drive through the park. We decided to go as far as we could and have lunch we ended up at the North Summit Lake Picnic area. After that we went north and visited Subway Cave and Burney Falls where we walked the loop trail These are some photos from this trip.
