Japanese Surrender

Japanese Surrender- Amazing Footage Sept 2, 1945…

Very moving considering what happened prior to this event…

This is a ‘must see’ for the WWII history buff or anyone interested in history.  Interesting the other signers to the document, from New Zealand/Australia to Europe/Russia.

This is an actual film made of the surrender ceremony of the Japs to McArthur in Tokyo Bay in September 1945.  Actual voice of the General.  Never been shown to the general public before.  We always saw the “stills” but never the film itself.

An important piece of history.

  1. Hi Ken, Thanks for this presentation. I was 10 years old on this day. We did not have TV then or electronic gadgets to see it. We only had a radio to hear and newspapers to read about it. We also got to see news reels of this event on our regular family Saturday night trip to the movies. It was about this time that my three uncles came home. What a joyous day it was. They carried no physical scars but emotional scars they carried changed them. Two of them are still living today, both in their early 90’s but with failing health. I honor them totally.
